Our ambition is to enable the fossil freedom that drives society forward. Vattenfall is therefore investing in sustainable energy, including wind energy. This is good for the climate and the Netherlands.
One of the largest players
Vattenfall is one of the largest energy companies in Europe. We have been generating and supplying power for more than 100 years. As well as our presence in Sweden and the Netherlands, we are also active in Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom and Finland. In the Netherlands, we employee approximately 4,800 staff.
Clear aim
We want to enable fossil freedom that drives society forward. We seek the balance between a reliable and affordable supply of power and heat, with the most sustainable production method possible.
In 2006 we built the first offshore wind farm in the Netherlands on the coast at Egmond aan Zee. This wind farm consists of 36 wind turbines and pumps out 108 megawatts (MW) of sustainable energy. The Hollandse Kust Zuid Wind Farm is the second offshore wind farm that Vattenfall has constructed in the Netherlands.
Test location in Scotland
Vattenfall has their own test and demonstration site in Scotland: at the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC). This site consists of eleven wind turbines that test new technologies for the next generation of wind farms. Read more about the test site.
